Posted in Football on July 2, 2011 by poohbear001

Our U-12 girls lined out on friday evening 1st july in New Inn to face Ardfinnan in the County ‘D’ Final. After a very composed start our girls found their rhythm and an opening goal by Niamh Keane helped settle things. A very strong run by Caoimhe Ryan lead to a penalty and she duly stepped up and converted same. Niamh added two more before the break to go in at half time leading 2-2 — 0-1.

After the break Caoimhe Ryan added another 1-1. Our defence was outstanding with Sadhbh,Vivienne,Olivia, Shannon, Ruth, Joy,Eimear commanding a solid defence. Our midfield mistros Ciara Horan & Caoimhe  McMenamin worked with our foward line to great effect. Final score 3-3 — 0-1. Read more »

2010 will be remembered for a number of reasons by the patrons of St. Patrick’s GAA club. The club finished and opened their new dressing rooms which is a real landmark in the clubs development. Another major event was our Junior A hurlers maiden voyage into the Munster championship. The Ladies football club was brought into existence in 2010 also and the captured a county title. Some major achievements! Read more »

Junior Hurlers & Footballers Progress to date

Posted in Football, Hurling on June 16, 2010 by Imreoir

Some info with respect to the last fortnights proceedings.

St. Patricks 2-11 Newcastle 1-5

Our Junior A hurlers gained their second win of the year in the championship, but beating Newcastle last weekend. The game was played in the main field in Clonmel last Saturday evening. St. Pats went in ten points up at half time, after dominating the first halves proceedings. Newcastle as expected put pressure on in the second half but our lads held out and came away with a comprehensive win. Best for St. Pats were Tony O’Brien, Liam Brett, Jason Hayes.

St. Patricks 1-7 Cahir 4-4

Our Junior A footballers kicked off their championship season over the last fortnight. Unfortunately they came up short in their first outing, against Cahir in Ned Hall park Conmel. The lads started brightly and were on top for the first half going in a few points ahead. Richie Needham was proving to be a good target man at full forward and opportunities were coming off him, even though maybe not enough of those were taken! A few critical mistakes at the back in the second half gifted Cahir two goals and naturally Cahir got momentum from this. Cahir got their noses in front and held out to the end. Not a good display from our lads in general!

St. Patricks 1-8 Moyle Rovers 0-11

Our Junior B hurlers also started their 2010 campaign last week. The dug out a draw on a very wet evening in Fethard against Moyle Rovers. Conditions were very poor for hurling but both teams produced an entertaining hour for the few brave followers. Moyle Rovers were in the ascendancy throughout but the Drangan and Cloneen lads kept at it and were rewarded with a share of the points in the end. Best for St. Pats on the night were Noel Brett, Anthony Barry, Philip Britton.
