2012 – St. Patricks

Posted in Football, Hurling on January 31, 2012 by Imreoir

Belated new year greetings to all from all in St. Pats GAA. It has been a quite time on the GAA front, but you will be glad to hear that things are starting to pick up. Our U21 footballers are back in training for the last 2 weeks and they actually commence their championship next Sunday at 12:00 in Newcastle against Fr. Sheehys. It is very early to be playing championship, but we don’t come up with the fixture list!!!

Hopefully our lads will kick the year off with a win. The U21 is played on a round robin this year which will ensure more games, even if in bad conditions.

The best of luck to all St. PAtricks teams, juvenile, ladies and mens for 2012, here’s hoping for a fruitful year.

Junior A, U21 Hurling Updates

Posted in Hurling on October 29, 2011 by Imreoir

St. Pats won their South u21 hurling quarter final last weekend against Cahir in Monroe. Unfortunately for all concerned Cahir started the game with only 13 players, produced the mandatory 15 for start of second half but then returned to 14. Conditions were poor but the number mismatch ensured the game was never in the balance. It finished 3-17 to 0-7 to Pats. We now play the winners of Skeehen and Kilsheelin in the semi final.

Team: J.Moroney(Capt), W.O’Brien, C.Dunne, T.Hayes, E.Needham, P.Horan, E.McCormack, D.Barry, S.Gorey, N.Kearney, N.Gleeson, T.O’Brien, S.Broderick, R.Maher, K.O’Neill. Subs; G.Strappe, D.Riordan, M.O’Halloran, M.Slattery, M.Fitzgerald, J.Moloney.

St. Pats Junior A hurlers play today against Loughmore in the county quarter final in Littleton. They have only one injury concern with captain Eoin McCormack going over on his ankle in the U21 game last weekend. Apart from that all are looking forward to it. Loughmore beat a fancied Sarsfields in the mid final, so it will be a big task for our lads. Here’s hoping that the lads get the wright result today and progress to the semis.

South Junior A Hurling Final

Posted in Hurling on September 30, 2011 by Imreoir

Monroe will host this years Junior A Hurling final on Sunday evening at 5:15pm. It is a repeat of last years semi final, St. Pats Vs Kilsheelin.

The score board, the objection, the appeal and the replay will all be remembered from the meeting of these two in last years semi final. So to say that there is a bit at stake this year is an understatement. St. Pats will be intent on holding onto their crown and Kilsheelin intent on reversing last years result.

Kilsheelin put a big score(3-20) against a fancied Clonmel Og in the semi final. St. Pats stumbled over Newcastle in their semi. Will Pats be able to move the ball fast enough and avoid a physical battle with a very big Kilsheelin team, only time will tell.

St. Pats have some, minor injury worries but nothing major. Tony O’Brien misses the final due to suspension and he will be a loss. Apart from that it looks as if our lads are ready to go and here’s wishing them the best on Sunday evening!
