Junior A, U21 Hurling Updates
Posted in Hurling on October 29, 2011 by ImreoirSt. Pats won their South u21 hurling quarter final last weekend against Cahir in Monroe. Unfortunately for all concerned Cahir started the game with only 13 players, produced the mandatory 15 for start of second half but then returned to 14. Conditions were poor but the number mismatch ensured the game was never in the balance. It finished 3-17 to 0-7 to Pats. We now play the winners of Skeehen and Kilsheelin in the semi final.
Team: J.Moroney(Capt), W.O’Brien, C.Dunne, T.Hayes, E.Needham, P.Horan, E.McCormack, D.Barry, S.Gorey, N.Kearney, N.Gleeson, T.O’Brien, S.Broderick, R.Maher, K.O’Neill. Subs; G.Strappe, D.Riordan, M.O’Halloran, M.Slattery, M.Fitzgerald, J.Moloney.
St. Pats Junior A hurlers play today against Loughmore in the county quarter final in Littleton. They have only one injury concern with captain Eoin McCormack going over on his ankle in the U21 game last weekend. Apart from that all are looking forward to it. Loughmore beat a fancied Sarsfields in the mid final, so it will be a big task for our lads. Here’s hoping that the lads get the wright result today and progress to the semis.
Visit of Liam McGrath
Posted in Football on October 25, 2011 by poohbear001Many thanks to Liam McGrath who visited Cloneen last Saturday for a training and question and answer session with players from under 10 to under 16. Liam who lead the Tipperary minor Footballers to all Ireland glory this year refereed a fun game in the rain. Tipperary won their first All-Ireland Minor Football Championship title since 1934 with a sensational 3-09 to 1-14 comeback win over Dublin at Croke Park. Thanks Liam and the very best of luck for the future. We hope to see you here again with Sam!!!

U10 – U12 Parish Football League
Posted in Football on October 21, 2011 by ImreoirThe U10 and U12s have been playing a parish football league for the last 3 weeks. Last weekend we played the finals with all 4 teams involved. The weather was lovely, the football fast and furious. This league has proved to be both entertaining and enjoyable for all involved. Our thanks to Susan Meagher for presenting The Ned Meagher Cup, also our thanks to Philly Keane who reffed our matches and presented our Juvenile Club with a lovely new cup.
