South Junior Hurling 1st Round
St. Patricks 3-17 Carrick Swan 1-09
St. Pats started their championship campaign with a win on Friday evening last in Kilsheelin. The final scoreline highlights a convincing win which it was in the end, but Pats had a few worrying moments early on.
Swan started very well and to that Pats started poorly. After 15mins play, Swan were 1-4 to 0-0 up and doing all the hurling admittedly with a slight breeze. It was Swan themselves kick started Pats by gifting them with a goal half way through the first half. This was to be Pats first score! this looked like what they needed and they added a few points and then Nicky Kearney got Pats second goal. Our lads were coming into it by now and went in 2 up at half time, a big turn around from the early minutes of the half!
At the start of the second half, Swan again gave our lads another goal that came from 50 yards out. This galvanised Pats and then went on to put up the scores, a lot of them through frees. They went on to win comfortably in the end. Best for Pats were C. Barry, N. Kearney, N. Gleeson.
