St. Patricks 0-13 Clonmel Og 1-7
Our Junior A footballers got the first win last Tuesday night against Clonmel Og. Clonmel Og were first to score on a nice evening in Marlfield, kicking an early point. Pats struggled for a while to get into the game but eventually they started to take some decent scores. We had one or two, from what you would imagine, goal chances but our lads were happy to take their points in the opening half. Clonmel Og also had their chances and MArcus O’Halloran pulled off one decent save keep a clean sheet. We went in 0-6 to 0-4 at the break.
The second half panned out pretty similar to the first half with neither team really to the fore. Tony O’Brien kicked a few frees to keep us ahead and Clonmel Og made a few drives up the field and picked off their scores. In fairnes Pats had the majority of teh ball and put pressure on Clonmel Og, but struggled to convert the pressure into dominance on the score board. Clonmel Og scored a good goal to keep the game in the melting pot right to the end but thankfully our lads kept their noses in front.
