St. Pats get first win in Junior A Football

St. Patricks 0-13 Clonmel Og 1-7

Our Junior A footballers got the first win last Tuesday night against Clonmel Og. Clonmel Og were first to score on a nice evening in Marlfield, kicking an early point. Pats struggled for a while to get into the game but eventually they started to take some decent scores. We had one or two, from what you would imagine, goal chances but our lads were happy to take their points in the opening half. Clonmel Og also had their chances and MArcus O’Halloran pulled off one decent save keep a clean sheet. We went in 0-6 to 0-4 at the break.

The second half panned out pretty similar to the first half with neither team really to the fore. Tony O’Brien kicked a few frees to keep us ahead and Clonmel Og made a few drives up the field and picked off their scores. In fairnes Pats had the majority of teh ball and put pressure on Clonmel Og, but struggled to convert the pressure into dominance on the score board. Clonmel Og scored a good goal to keep the game in the melting pot right to the end but thankfully our lads kept their noses in front.

St Pats won the South U10 Division 3A football blitz in Ned Hall park on Saturday morning last. They had three games. The first one was against Carrick Swan B which was a close affair with our boys coming through by 2 points in the end.

The second game was against Commercials B, which we won comfortably and our final  game was against Newcastle and our lads finished strongly to gain a comprehensive victory to claim the Div 3A title. Well done to all concerned especially the young lads who produced some very good football.

St. Pats vs Kilsheelin Junior A Hurling

Posted in Hurling on June 12, 2012 by Imreoir

St. Patricks 0-13 Kilsheelin 0-13

St. Patricks commenced their Junior A hurling championship last Sunday at Monroe against Kilsheelin. It was a lovely morning with the sun shining so a good game was expected. Unfortunately it didn’t pan out this way…
It was a very lack luster affair, with scores very difficult to come by. The half time score was 0-4 to 0-5 in favour of Kilsheelin. Kilsheelin missed a number of chances which would have put them more to the fore at half time.
The second half was an improvement, but still well below what both teams would have hoped for. Tony O’Brien came from corner to wing forward and improved things for St. Pats. Also R. McCormack came from full forward to center forward in the second half and picked up two good scores from play.
In the last minutes the game was very much in the balance and Pats led by 2 with 5 mins left. Kilsheelin did well and picked up the two last scores to make a draw of it.

All in all a poor first outing for both teams. Lets hope for improvements in the upcoming games.
