Liam O’Dwyer Second Annual Cycle
On Sunday 20th August our cyclists reached Mizen Head having started out from Malin Head on the previous Wednesday. We pay tribute to those who cycled all the way and those who joined in along the way. Well done to Colm Duggan, Paul Gahan, Keith Browne, Tom Anglim and Michael Quinlan who cycled all the way and to Mattie Murphy who joined them in Longford. Many more cycled from Cloneen to Mizen Head on Saturday and Sunday. Thanks also to the support cars especially Sally Duggan and Julie Ann Smith Gahan who provided back up all the way and to Mike and Jimmy O’Brien who transported the bicycles and to Lee-Therm who provided a truck for the bicycles. Thanks to all who travelled to Mizen Head on Sunday to welcome the cyclists and to all who sponsored the cyclists.

Mullinahone U10 tournament
On Saturday, 26th of August St Patrick’s U.10 hurlers competed in the annual ground hurling tournament in Mullinahone.
We first played three group games which we won with some great hurling, scores were St Patrick’s 4 Fermoy 2; St Patrick’s 7 Myshell 1; St Patrick’s 7 Mullinahone 1. Next up was a semifinal against Golden which the boys won on a score of St Patrick’s 8 Golden-Kilfeacle 1. That put our boys in the cup final and playing their near neighbours Mullinahones first team, and after an extremely tough final Mullinahone came out on top on a score line of 4 scores to 2. Well done to all the boys on a great effort to reach the final but unfortunately didn’t win on the day.
Team: Charlie Noonan, Michael Cuddihy, Tom Lee, Oran Gahan, Cormac Duggan, Sean Fitzgerald, Mike O Dwyer, Cathal Keane, Eoin Morrissey, Dane Outram, Liam Hennebery. Tom Ryan. Eoin Horan. Daniel Carroll.

Bereavements
We extend the sympathy of St. Patricks GAA Club to his wife Ruth and brother Tommy of the late Michael (Mick) McGarry who died recently. Micky first came under notice when lining out with Annervale Rovers (Drangan-Cloneen) minor footballers. This team reached the South Final of 1942 only to suffer defeat at the hands of Burncourt-Clogheen. His brother Owen McGarry was also a member of this team. The high point of a great football career was in 1947 when Micky was a member of the all conquering St. Patricks Senior Football team who claimed the South and Co Tipperary titles and also won the Tipperary Men’s Cup. Championship success eluded this team in 1948 but Micky was a member of the team defeated by Clonmel Commercials in the Tipperary Men’s Cup Final. In 1950 Micky was a member of the Drangan team defeated by Kilsheelan in the South Tipperary Junior Football Final. In 1951 Micky was a member of the Drangan team defeated by St. Patricks Cloneen in the Junior Football Championship and also lined out with the Drangan – Kilsheelan Senior Combination defeated by Ballingarry in a replay. In 1952 Micky helped Drangan Junior Footballers to reach the South Final only to suffer a defeat at the hands of Cahir. In 1953 Micky won South and Co. Senior Football Championships with St. Patricks and added South and County Junior Football Championships with Drangan. 1954 saw Micky in the South Junior final only to suffer defeat at the hands of Ardfinnan. Micky also played Junior Hurling with St. Patricks. When his remains arrived in Drangan they were flanked by a guard of honour of former St. Patrick’s players while his coffin was draped in the club flag. May the soul of Michael McGarry rest in peace.
We also extend sympathy to his daughter Louise and relatives of the late Martin Ryan of Magoury who died recently. May he rest in peace.
