Junior A Football

Last Saturday our Junior A Footballers were in action when they took on Ardfinnan in the South Semi Final. We were hoping to reach our first final since 2014. Ardfinnan got off to a good start when they went 2 points up however we soon found our rhythm and a goal from Cathal Mahoney helped us to a 1-10 to 0-4 half time lead. We pulled away further in the second half and ended up winning on a scoreline of 1-20 to 1-7. We will now play Carrick Swan in the South Final this weekend. Look out for fixture details on our social pages in the coming days. We hope to see a big crowd in attendance as we aim to win the South title for the first time since 2005. Bereavement

The death took place recently at the age of 96 of Tommy Horan Knocura. We extend sympathy to his wife Ita, Daughters Helena, Margaret, Ita and Claudia and sons Tom, Michael, John, Pat, Eddie and Bisop Paul. Tommy was a well known figure in the cattle business as far away as Kerry and Offally and his son Pat continues in this business. Tommy took a keen interest in current affairs and wworld geography. In his younger days Tommy lined out with St. Patricks hurling and football teams.
With Ita being a Carrick Swan supporter both Tommy and Ita were regular attenders at Swan matches. They were of course regular attenders at St. Patricks matches where their children and grandchildren were regular members of St. Patricks teams. In more recent years they travelled to Mullinahone and Grangemockler matches to support their Grandchildren. Cathal was a Co. Minor hurler, Paul and Sean were Co. Minor Footballers. Seán and Jill had the distinction of both playing All-Ireland Finals on the same day in Croke Park when Jill lined out with the Co. Tipperary Senior Camogie team and Seán with the Co. Under 21 hurlers. Jill had a long and successful career with the Co. Tipperary Senior camogie team and was a regular analyst on the Sunday Game on RTE Television. In recent years the MacFaddens have been prominent members of successful Grangemockler teams. May the soul of Tommy Horan rest in peace.
