Schools Matches

Last week was a busy one for many of our secondary school student with action for Presentation Ballingarry and Scoil Ruain Killenaule.

On last Tuesday week Presentation Ballingarry played the Under 15 Schools Co. Hurling Final against Abbey CBS from Tipperary Town in Boherlahan. The Ballingarry boys did well against a physically stronger Abbey team and were only 4 points behind at the final whistle. St. Patricks players in action were Cormac Duggan, Seán Fitzgerald, Tom Ryan, Charlie Noonan, Michael Cuddihy and Oran Gahan with Cathal Keane, Eoin Morrissey, Dane Outram and Bobby Purcell ready for action.

On Wednesday last all roads led to Ballingarry where Scoil Ruain Killenaule were in action against Presentation Ballingarry in the Senior Secondary Schools Hurling Championship. Eoin Fitzgerald was the lone St. Patricks man on the Killenaule panel with former St. Patricks player Kyle Colville also present. On the Ballingarry side St. Patricks were represented by Danny Broderick, Cian Crannitch, Jack Cleere, Aidan Fitzgerald, Daithi Hogan, Ryan Crannitch, James Ryan with Bill Cuddihy, Pat Moroney, Brian O’Halloran and William Cleere also in the panel. After a great game Ballingarry came out on top and will face Carrick on Suir in the next round.

Under 21 Hurling

Our U21 Hurlers were out in action last Sunday when they took on Grangemockler in Mullinahone. Down a few players we started off slowly but gradually came back into the game and at half time there was only 2 points in it. However Grangemockler took over in the second half and ran out comfortable winners in the end. We now play Fethard this weekend in the losers group where the winner will qualify for the Semi Final. The team on the day was: Luke Fox, Mikey O Brien, Bill Cuddihy, Sean Ryan, Cian Crannitch, Eoin Ryan, Matt McCormack, Ryan Crannitch, Frank Meagher, Evan White, Pauric O’Brien, Jamie Brett, Cathal Foley, Tommy O Brien, Aidan Fitzgerald.

Junior B Football

Our Junior B Footballers were the last of our Junior teams left in action this year. They were looking to become the 3rd of our 4 Junior Teams to make a Final this year. They took on Carrick Davins last Wednesday night in Newcastle. Unfortunately they came up against a stronger team on the night and Davins ran out winners on a scoreline of 3-9 to 0-3. This was the first time in 12 years that we have been able to field a 2nd football team so hopefully we can keep doing it for the foreseeable future. The team on the night was: Keith Browne, Jason Hayes, Kieran Clancy, Tommy O Brien, Jamie Moloney, Shane Gorey, Conor Gorey, Richie Needham, Sean Ryan, Jamie Brett, Eamon Needham, Mikey O Brien, Keelan O Neill, Aaron Croinin, Luke Fox, Declan Morrissey, Willie O Brien.

Although there was no silverware won by our Junior Teams this year, we managed to reach 2 South Finals and a Semi Final which has been an improvement on previous years. A lot of young players have also gained valuable experience at adult level and hopefully we can push on over the next couple of years. We would like to thank all the players and management for all their time and effort over the last number of months.

Under 17 Football Championship

On Sunday last our under 17 footballers continued their championship campaign with a narrow defeat at the hands of Cahir in Anner park Cloneen when the score was 2-9 to 1-11. In truth this was a game of missed chances when victory was within our reach. The team was: Brian O’Halloran, Eoin Fitzgerald, Jack Cleere, Evan Holohan, Joe Traynor, Bill Cuddihy, Sean Nash, Pat Moroney, James Ryan, Willie Cleere, Robbie Noonan, Finn Madigan, Oran Gahan, Danny Broderick, Daithi Hogan, Conor Brett, Charlie Noonan, Cormac Duggan, Seán Fitzgerald.

Our under 17 footballers play Fethard in the South Tipperary Sem Final on this Saturday at 10.30 in

Well Done Seán

Congratulations and best wishes to Seán Nash Shanakyle on being selected on the Co. Tipperary Under 15 Huling Panel.

Junior B Hurling

Last Sunday our Junior B Hurlers were hoping to end a 16 year wait for a South Title when they took on Clerihan in Monroe. After already losing to Clerihan earlier in the championship we knew it would be an uphill battle. We got off to a good start and a Shane Gorey goal helped us to a 4 point half time lead.  We continued to lead throughout the match up until the last few minutes when Clerihan went into the lead. A very controversial goal near the end gave Clerihan a 4 point lead with time almost up and although we managed to grab a goal back it wasn’t enough and we ended up losing on a scoreline of 2-14 to 2-13. Losing 2 finals in the space of a week is tough to take but hopefully it will drive us on next year to make up for the defeats. The team on the day was: Patrick Moroney, Sean Ryan, Damien Barry, Kieran Clancy, Jamie Moloney, Colm Dunne, Jason Hayes, Shane Gorey, Jamie Brett, Aaron Croinin, Richie Needham, Mark Lynch, Matt McCormack, Darren Boland, Keelan O Neill, James Fitzgerald, Cameron Moynihan, Luke Fox, Keith Browne, Declan Morrissey, Mikey O Brien, Jack Cuddihy.
