St. Patricks Juvenile GAA Kellogs Summer CÚl Camp

We ask all parents and juvenile players to note that our Annual Summer Camp will commence on Monday 29th June and continue until Friday 3rd July. This of course depends on the Corona Virus and our efforts to defeat its progress.

Hurling and Football Games Postponed

Due to the Coronavirus all Adult and Juvenile Hurling and Football games have been postponed until the present crisis has abated. Training has also been put on hold and both Anner Park Cloneen and Drangan GAA Field are out of bounds for all.
Coronavirus Community Delivery Service

In an effort to help people who are self isolating in Drangan and Cloneen a group of GAA people have got together to arrange deliveries to houses in Drangan and Cloneen. If you wish to avail of this service please place your order by phonong the shop and delivery will be arranged on the following day. We thank the local shops and the volunteers who will be delivering to your doorstep but not entering your house in the coming days and weeks.

In 1906 Cloneen were represented at the Co. Convention in Thurles by Frank Meagher and Jim Noonan. Cloneen defeated Cahir by 1-5 to 0-6 in the first round of the Co. Senior Football Championship. In the second round in Mullinahone on October 29 a Slievardagh player refused to leave the field when the referee ordered him off and the match was awarded to Cloneen. The Cloneen team was: Jack Tobin (captain), Tom, Pat and Jack Cormack, William Hickey, Pat Carew, Frank Walsh, Tom & Bill Clancy, Jack Phelan, Dick Morrissey, Tom Pollard, John Gleeson, Pat Scanlon, Tom O’Donnell and Jack and Mick Roche. The C.J. Kickham band from Drangan played a choice selection of tunes during the match. The 1906 Co. Semi Final was played in The Commons on Sunday April 28 when after a close game the reigning Co. champions Grangemockler defeated Cloneen by 2 points. The game was refereed by Mr. M.Brennan DC. Jack Phelan played for Tipperary Senior Footballers defeated by Kerry in the Munster Semi Final of 1906. In 1907 Cloneen defeated Clonmel Emmets to qualify for a Co. semi final against Grangemockler on Sunday March 29 1908 in Mullinahone. After another great battle Grngemockler were victorious and went on to defeat Cashel in the Co. Senior Football Final of 1907 to complete a Five in a Row of Co. Tipperary Senior Football Championships. But things would change in 1908.

Minor Football
Our Minor Footballers began their campaign last Sunday when they took on Knockmealdown Gaels in Ned Hall Park. We started brightly and were 1-2 to no score inside 5 minutes with Jack Cuddihy getting the goal. However Knockmealdown came back into the game strongly and they went into half-time leading by 2 points on a score of 2-4 to 1-5. Knockmealdown had the upper hand for most of the second half and were 6 points up with a couple of minutes to go but 2 late goals from Matt McCormack and Tommy O’Brien meant we managed a draw from a seemingly impossible position. The team on the day was: Brian O’Halloran, Luke Fox, Jack Cleere, Evan White, Tommy O’Brien, Keith Morrissey, Bill Cuddihy, Aidan Fitzgerald, Cian Crannitch, Cathal Foley, Matt McCormack, Jamie Brett, Eoin Fitzgerald, Jack Cuddihy, James Lawless, Robbie Noonan, Daithi Hogan.
