Under 16 Hurling

Our under 16 hurlers got their season off to a great start on Monday week last with a victory over Ballingarry by 3.13 to 3.8. They continued this form with a victory over Mullinahone on Saturday last in Anner Park Cloneen when the score read 9-13 to 1-5.The team against Mullinahone was: Conor Brett, Brian O’Halloran, Eoin Fitzgerald, Shaun Nash, Jack Cleere, Evan White, Robbie Noonan, James Ryan, William Cleere, Pat Moroney, Danny Broderick, Joe Traynor, Daithi Hogan, Charlie Noonan, Kyle Colville, Hayden Fleming, Evan Holohan, James Hogan, Tom Ryan. On Monday week last the good times faded a little as Killenaule defeated our boys. Minor Hurling

Our Minor Hurlers played their final group game last Wednesday evening when they took on Fethard in Ballingarry. We got a goal with the first attack of the game and never looked back and ran out winners on the night on a scoreline of 4-13 to 4-5. Under 12 D Hurling
Our second Under 12 Hurling team took the field in Killenaule on last Sunday morning
Where they defeated Clonmel Óg and Killenaule but suffered a defeat at the hands of Mullinahone. The team was: Jamie Holohan, Eoin O Brien, Jack Gleeson, Tom Butler, Aidan Morrissey, Dara Fitzgerald, Turlough Moroney, James Egan, Liam Richardson, Matthew Lawrence, Luke Power, Mikey Slattery.

Under 14 Hurling
On Thursday last our under 14 hurlers played their third game of the season against Killenaule in Killenaule in . St. Patricks won by 6-12 to 1-6. The team was: Cormack Duggan, Joey Fitzgerald, Evan Holohan, Mike O’Dwyer, Cathal Keane, Conor Brett, Eoin Morrissey, Charlie Noonan, Seán Nash, Michael Hayden, Oran Gahan, Seán Fitzgerald, Tom Ryan, Tom Lee, Diesel Outram, John Carroll, Dylan Meagher, Keelan Strappe, Dane Outram, Hayden Fleming.
We have now qualified for the South Tipperary against Skeheenarinka on this Thursday evening.

Under 16 Hurling
Our under 16 hurlers got their season off to a great start on Monday week last with a victory over Ballingarry by 3.13 to 3.8. This was a great victory as Ballingarry were going for their third South Tipperary under 16 B championship in a row having defeated St. Patricks in a rplay in last years final. They continued this form with a victory over Mullinahone on Saturday last in Anner Park Cloneen when the score read 9-13 to 1-5.

Junior Hurling
Our Junior A Hurlers played their second match of the championship last Sunday when they took on local rivals Mullinahone. After winning our first game a win here would put us in a great position to advance to the knockout stage. The game was tight throughout and at half time Mullinahone led by 2 points, 2-5 to 1-6 with Aaron Croinin getting the goal. The second half was the same with both sides having their spells of dominance. 2 goals from Tony O Brien, the second coming in injury time looked to have given us the win but a goal with the last puck of the game gave Mullinahone the win by the minimum on a scoreline of 3-13 to 3-12. Under 14 Hurling

On Thursday last our under 14 hurlers played their second game of the season against Grangemockler-Ballyneale in Grangemockler. St. Patricks won by 6-12 to 1-6. The team was: Cormack Duggan, Joey Fitzgerald, Evan Holohan, Mike O’Dwyer, Cathal Keane, Conor Brett, Charlie Noonan, Seán Nash, Finn Madigan, Michael Hayden, Oran Gahan, Eoin Morrissey, Seán Fitzgerald, Tom Ryan, Tom Lee, Diesel Outram, John Carroll, Dylan Meagher, Keelan Strappe, Dane Outram, Hayden Fleming.

Minor Hurling

Our Minor Hurlers were in action once again last Wednesday night when they took on Killenaule in Ballingarry. After losing our 1st 2 games a win here was badly needed. After playing against the wind in the first half we went in just 2 points down thanks to a goal from Bill Cuddihy. In the second half we were the better team and 2 goals from Matt McCormack gave us a lead we wouldn’t relinquish and ran out winners on a scoreline of 3-11 to 1-11. The team on the night was: Danny Broderick, Keith Morrissey, Ryan Crannitch, Eoin Fitzgerald, Luke Fox, Jack Cleere, Cian Crannitch, Aidan Fitzgerald, James Ryan, Cathal Foley, Angus McDonald, Bill Cuddihy, Jamie Brett, Tommy O’Brien, Matt McCormack, Daithi Hogan, James Lawless, Pat Moroney, Willie Cleere.

Under 14 Hurling

On Thursday last our under 14 hurlers played their first game of the season against Kilsheelan-Kilcash in Anner Park Cloneen. After a close game our boys were unfortunate to be 3 points behind when the score was Kilsheelan-Kilcash 3-7 to 1-10 for St. Patricks. The team was: Cormack Duggan, Joey Fitzgerald, Evan Holohan, Cathal Keane, Hayden Fleming, Conor Brett, Eoin Morrissey, Seán Nash, Finn Madigan, John Carroll, Charlie Noonan, Tom Ryan, Seán Fitzgerald, Oran Gahan, Diesel Outram, Tom Lee, Mike O’Dwyer, Keelan Strappe, Dane Outram.

Under 12 Hurling

On Sunday last our under 12 hurlers played their second game of the season at Anner Park Cloneen. Unfortunatel Killenaule were too strong. The margin would have been even greater but for some excellent defending by the St. Patrick goalie and defence. St. Patricks team was: Bobby Purcell, Nathan Gleeson, Eoin Horan, Donncha Foley, Jack O’ Donnell, Tiernan O’ Brien, Dane Outram, Conor Danagher, Daniel Holden, Daniel Carroll, Donal Keane.

Minor Hurling

Our Minor hurlers were out in their second game of the Championship last Wednesday when they took on Grangemockler in Mullinahone. Things didn’t go our way on the night and we lost on a scoreline of 1-20 to 2-5. The team on the night was: Danny Broderick, Eoin Fitzgerald, Ryan Crannitch, Keith Morrissey, Luke Fox, Aidan Fitzgerald, Jack Cuddihy, James Ryan, Cian Crannitch, Cathal Foley, Jack Cleere, Jamie Brett, Daithi Hogan, Tommy O’Brien, Robbie Noonan, Brian O’Halloran, James Lawless, Pat Moroney.

Junior Hurling

Our Junior A Hurlers began their Championship last Saturday in Ned Hall Park Clonmel where Ballylooby were our opponents. In a tight game we eventually came out on top after a strong finish on a scoreline of 2-14 to 2-9. St. Patricks Juvenile GAA Kellogs Summer CÚl Camp

We ask all parents and juvenile players to note that our Annual Summer Camp will not be held this year.

Hurling and Football Championships 2020

Minor Hurling

Our Minor Hurlers will begin their campaign on the weekend of 18th/19th July when they play Cahir in their first match. Matches after that will place on the following 3 Wednesdays. We will also play Killenaule, Grangemockler and Fethard.

Junior A Hurling

Our Junior A Hurlers will have their first game on the weekend of the 25th/26th July where Ballylooby will be our first game. We will have further games against Mullinahone and Cahir. The top team will come out of the group and into Semi Final.

Junior A Football

Our Junior A Footballers will begin their year on the weekend of 22nd/23rd August where they will play Cahir as they have a bye in the first round. Also in their group are, Killenaule, Ballingarry and Moyle Rovers. Top 2 teams will come out of the group and into Semi Final
Juvenile Hurling Championships Juvenile hurling championships will commence during the last 10 days of July.

Hurling and Football Games Postponed

Due to the Coronavirus all Adult and Juvenile Hurling and Football games have been postponed until the present crisis has abated. Training has also been put on hold and both Anner Park Cloneen and Drangan GAA Field are out of bounds for all until June 29 when training will commence under very strict guidelines. Club games will commence on July 31 and inter county games will commence in mid October.

The new draw for 2020-21 will commence on Friday September 18. Receipts will be posted by Co. GAA office in early September and your promoter will be in contact with you in late August or early September. St. Patricks Juvenile GAA Kellogs Summer CÚl Camp

We ask all parents and juvenile players to note that our Annual Summer Camp will commence on Monday 29th June and continue until Friday 3rd July. This of course depends on the Corona Virus and our efforts to defeat its progress.

Hurling and Football Games Postponed

Coronavirus Community Delivery Service

In an effort to help people who are self isolating in Drangan and Cloneen a group of GAA people have got together to arrange deliveries to houses in Drangan and Cloneen. If you wish to avail of this service please place your order by phonong the shop and delivery will be arranged on the following day. We thank the local shops and the volunteers who will be delivering to your doorstep but not entering your house in the coming days and weeks.
GAA – The Early Years – Cloneen Footballers

In 1906 Cloneen were represented at the Co. Convention in Thurles by Frank Meagher and Jim Noonan. Cloneen defeated Cahir by 1-5 to 0-6 in the first round of the Co. Senior Football Championship. In the second round in Mullinahone on October 29 a Slievardagh player refused to leave the field when the referee ordered him off and the match was awarded to Cloneen. The Cloneen team was: Jack Tobin (captain), Tom, Pat and Jack Cormack, William Hickey, Pat Carew, Frank Walsh, Tom & Bill Clancy, Jack Phelan, Dick Morrissey, Tom Pollard, John Gleeson, Pat Scanlon, Tom O’Donnell and Jack and Mick Roche. The C.J. Kickham band from Drangan played a choice selection of tunes during the match. The 1906 Co. Semi Final was played in The Commons on Sunday April 28 when after a close game the reigning Co. champions Grangemockler defeated Cloneen by 2 points. The game was refereed by Mr. M.Brennan DC. Jack Phelan played for Tipperary Senior Footballers defeated by Kerry in the Munster Semi Final of 1906. In 1907 Cloneen defeated Clonmel Emmets to qualify for a Co. semi final against Grangemockler on Sunday March 29 1908 in Mullinahone. After another great battle Grngemockler were victorious and went on to defeat Cashel in the Co. Senior Football Final of 1907 to complete a Five in a Row of Co. Tipperary Senior Football Championships. But things would change in 1908.
